Before starting OverZealous Creations, I worked several years for a low-voltage contractor. We operated in a variety of environments, including residential and commercial sites, and on both new and existing construction.

Like many small businesses, we needed a tool to help manage our day-to-day operations. We tried using Excel spreadsheets, but found that these were hard to share and impossible to access from different locations. We also researched other tools, but all had serious limitations.

Most available tools were only usable by one person, on one computer. Many applications focused primarily on the financial aspects of the business, such as invoicing, while ignoring the operational side of the business. Others were designed for very large corporations, requiring their own IT departments to set up and manage them. These in-house solutions were not only costly themselves, but required dedicated computers and commercial internet connections.

As a result, I developed a simple but effective tool for managing the jobs we worked on. The goal was to have a tool that we could run ourselves, and easily share between the different employees of the company. This tool has evolved into ZestyJobs.

At OverZealous Creations, we decided early on to focus on small businesses — specifically the contractors that build our cities and homes. There are not many online tools available to help manage small businesses — and few, if any, are usable outside of a traditional office environment, as on job sites.

ZestyJobs has been designed from the ground up to be accessible from anywhere. It doesn't need to be installed on your computer and you don't need to have a dedicated server. If you have an internet connection, the information you need to run your business is available.
